SEWING BASICS WITH KATY TOTE BAG

This workshop will walk you through the steps
to make a basic, lined tote-bag with optional
pockets and magnetic closure. You will utilize
your basic sewing machine skills and learn
basic 3-dimensional construction
Sewing skills you will learn:
• How to install magnetic closures
• How to stitch a bag bottom with box corners
• How to attach sturdy pockets
• How to line a bag
• Turning tubes (turning handles right side out without losing your mind!)
What you will need (aka notions and materials):
• Sewing machine
• Universal regular point sewing machine needle (90/14)
• Fabric scissors
• Seam ripper
• Measuring tape
• 2 pre-wound bobbins
• Sewing pins
Tote bag material
• 1 yard fabric (Outside of the bag/handles)
• 1 yard fabric (lining/handles/pocket)
• 1-yard medium weight fusible interfacing
• 1 set Magnetic Snap Buttons Strong Clasp
• All-purpose coordinating thread
• 2 pre-would bobbins
• Optional: ¼ yard 3rd fabric color for pockets
