Description
PAPER PIECING SCRAPPY TRIANGLES
Second in the series, let’s get serious about this paper piecing. The Scrappy Triangles booklet takes paper piecing to another level. During class you will create one of the more simple blocks and then one of the more in-depth blocks. Patterns are very interesting, some more challenging than others. Michelle has many of them for you to explore.
When you purchase your supplies at Austin’s that enables us to offer more quality classes for your enjoyment and education.
Class Supply List
Add A Quarter ruler (12 inch)
Scrappy Triangles Foundation Paper Pad (50 sheets)
Cardboard bookmark (the ones handed out at Quilter’s Day Out for example
are perfect)
Washable glue stick (Elmer’s, Sew Line, or UHU all work)
Rotary cutter
Small acrylic ruler (3×12)
Sewing machine
Basic sewing supplies (scissors, thread-whatever you use for piecing)
90/14 needle
Small cutting mat (12×12)
Light boxes are optional but can be helpful. I will have one available to use
in class
Fabric: You will need a 7 ½ inch square (cut in half once on the diagonal) to
make 2 blocks. This is the “whole” half square triangle section of the block.
You can use the same fabric throughout, or as many different ones as you
like. For the pieced half of the block scraps can be used. Just keep in mind
that your scrap needs to fit the intended section with at bare minimum 1/4
inch extra on each side. I prefer a fair amount of extra on fabric pieces when
doing foundation paper piecing.
You should be able to get a few blocks done in class and have a good
understanding of foundation paper piecing.
Class will begin promptly at 1030. Please arrive in time to have your machine
set up and ready to go. We will take a 30–45-minute break for lunch.
