FOUNDATION PAPER PIECING 101
Learn the basics of foundation paper piecing with this simple pattern. Michelle will take you through the simple steps to create the blocks that are in this 9 block project. The block booklet has 40 blocks so you could make a larger quilt project if you wanted.
Class Supply List
Featherweight Friendly
- Add A Quarter ruler (12 inch)
- Its Sew Emma 6-inch Economy block booklet
- Cardboard bookmark (the ones handed out at Quilter’s Day Out for example are perfect)
- Washable glue stick (Elmer’s, Sew Line, or UHU all work)
- Rotary cutter
- Small acrylic ruler (3×12)
- Sewing machine
- Basic sewing supplies (scissors, thread-whatever you use for piecing)
- 90/14 needle Universal
- 50wt Quilting Thread 100% Cotton
- Small cutting mat (12×12)
- Fabric: You will need 2- 3 ½ inch squares, one 4-inch square (center), and 2- 4 ½ inch squares per block. As far as picking fabrics, if you choose a light fabric for the center (4 inch square), then choose a dark color for the first set of triangles around the center (3 ½ inch squares, and a lighter color for the outer set of triangles (4 ½ inch squares).
- You should be able to get several blocks done in class and have a good understanding of the basics of foundation paper piecing.
Class will begin promptly at 10:
- Please arrive in time to have your machine set up and ready to go. We will take a 30–45-minute break for lunch.
