SEWING BASICS WITH KATY

his course will introduce you to the basic use of a standard, household sewing machine. We will practice

setting up your machine and adjusting it for basic stitches. We will review must-have notions and their purpose.

Finally, we will make a placemat utilizing your machines and the information you learned.

Sewing machine skills you will learn:

• How to wind your bobbin

• How to install &thread your needle

• How to adjust your stitch settings

• How to gauge your seam allowance

• Basic troubleshooting & maintenance

• Needle size purpose

• Basic fabric construction

• Measuring and cutting fabric

• How to stich a seam

• How to use fusible interfacing

• How to understand basic pattern instructions
